As a former nurse, Mrs. Sheridan has a special passion for the work of the Arthritis National Research Foundation (ANRF). “By funding young researchers with cutting-edge ideas, ANRF is putting money to work in the most effective way to find a cure for these debilitating joint diseases,” she said.
“Few people are aware that more and more young people are afflicted with Juvenile Arthritis. With spokespeople like LPGA golfer Kristy McPherson (who has juvenile arthritis and also serves on the ANRF board) and PGA’s Phil Mickelson who has psoriatic arthritis, the message that arthritis is not just a disease for old people is beginning to resonate with the public,” said Mrs. Sheridan.
Mrs. Sheridan brings many skills from business and public service to the board from governance to communications to fundraising. She was responsible for many high profile projects in Orange County, most notably building the Barclay Theater and the Irvine Senior Center.
Although retired from nonprofit work, Mrs. Sheridan met with those involved with the Arthritis National Research Foundation. “I was very impressed with their work and the level of commitment to their mission. With 91% of donations placed into research I know I made the right choice joining ANRF and helping fund the research that may lead to curing arthritis.”
