Arthritis Now spoke with Dr. Nunzio Bottini, Associate Professor of Cellular Biology at the La Jolla Institute of Allergy and Immunology, about his work in arthritis research and what his latest project involves. Dr. Bottini is also an attending physician in the Division of Rheumatology at the University of California San Diego and received a grant from ANRF six years ago. The doctor also graced the cover of the latest issue of the Arthritis National Research Foundation’s annual report with his brother, Massimo. You can download a copy of that report by visiting our transparency and accountability section.
Currently Dr. Bottini’s lab is searching to find a way to improve autoimmune arthritis without further harming the immune system. His hope is that this new medication could supplement the current treatments for arthritis to create a therapy that is even more powerful. As a practicing physician and a researcher, his hope is to find new treatments for arthritis soon! For more on Dr. Bottini you may visit his profile at http://www.liai.org/pages/faculty-bottini
